Studies of Cadmium-ethylenediamine Complex Formation in Seawater by Computer-assisted Stripping Polarography

An equation for stripping polarographyis derived,relating the half-wave potential (E:ll), ligand concentration, and dissociation constant of a complexed metal ion. This equation is similar to that for classical polarography, but contains an additional term which makes Ezz a linear function of the logarithm of the time. A computer-assisted system for generating stripping polarographic curves is also described_ This system is used to characterize 1Oe8 M cadmium in a potassium nitrate solution and in sea water.
